Contact the Phone Company and Utility Companies and arrange to disconnect service from your current address and connect service at your new address.
Inform the Post Office of your new address.
Please have your elevators reserved (if applicable), leases signed and all keys necessary for entrance and exit.
Be sure to reserve parking for our moving trucks (if applicable).
For protection, pack each box so as to prevent items from moving around.
Pack delicate items such as glass and china together.
Use protective packing materials to cushion your items, such as peanuts, bubble wrap or white newsprint.
Make sure to label all boxes by room or items.
Make sure to lable all the boxes; for our purpose labeling is best on the top of the boxes.
Before closing your box, make sure to firmly cushion the top and sides of the box with packing materials.This will eliminate shifting during transit.
Close boxes and seal them top and bottom with package tape.
The weight of the boxes should not be too heavy.
"Can we leave clothing in the drawers of bureaus?' - Each bureau tells its own story. Some are too heavy, some are empty, some are not structural sound to handle its weight, some have spindly legs that are weakened from previous move.

More tips for piano moving:
The lightest piano weighs 375 lb, you may want leave it to me or have a professional handle it.
Piano is usually the last thing to get damaged. You must consider the walls, floors, tiles, thresholds and lawns.
Let piano acclimate the new surrounding for at least two weeks before getting it tuned.
If possible, keep piano out of direct sunlight and further away from woodstove or fireplace.
Usually grand pianos are oriented so the lids opens up towards the center of the room.
Some of Jimmy's mottos are " A piano a day keep the chiropractors away' and "Be aware of the free pianos!"
When calling for an estimate, it's helpful to me if you can tell me the Manufacturer's name; for an upright piano, the height and depth.
For grand pianos, I need to know Manufacturer's name and length of the cabinet. The measurement is taken by furtherest edge of lid of the piano straight back to the keyboard, to where the piano key would hit your belly when you play. See diagram below:
